OAKLAND, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ecologic Brands, Inc. (“Ecologic”), an award-winning designer and manufacturer of sustainable packaging solutions, is opening its first production facility in the US.
Recognized for making America’s first recycled cardboard bottle, Ecologic is dedicated to offering consumers a choice in packaging beyond plastic or glass. The 60,000 sq. ft. facility in Manteca, California will enable production volume of Ecologic’s line of molded fiber bottles (“eco.bottles®”) to increase from 6 to 60 million units per year. “The decision to open the facility in Manteca was to better service the increasing demand for our sustainable products,” explains Julie Corbett, Ecologic Brands Founder & CEO.
The Manteca, CA location was strategically selected given its proximity to partners who provide corrugated material that is then up-cycled into eco.bottles®. This operational setup will allow Ecologic to lower cost while improving both quality and consistency of production processes. Manteca is also ideally situated along core freight lanes with good port access.
Ecologic is particularly excited to onshore jobs and create more professional opportunities in the sustainable packaging field in Manteca, which is already home to a large and skilled labor force well-suited for Ecologic’s manufacturing processes. The opening of this facility has created over 30 new full-time positions since April 2013.
In the US and Canada, you can find eco.bottles® on the shelf today used by the Seventh Generation 4X concentrated laundry detergent in 2 fragrances and a baby detergent, Bodylogix protein powder in 5 flavors, and Safeway store-branded laundry detergent in 3 fragrances. Recently, Ecologic also began to ship US-made cardboard bottles to brands in Australia, Korea, and Mexico.
