The acquisition broadens the services Xerox offers to these industries, providing retail companies with Web-based information programs that meet the regulatory, operational, continuing education and internal training needs of their diverse and widely-distributed workforces.
Based in Tallahassee, Fla., LearnSomething currently delivers industry information and educational programs to 85 percent of all U.S. retail pharmacy chains, reaching more than 110,000 retail pharmacists. Food and drug retailers use the company’s e-learning platform, Learner Community™, to complete regulatory compliance courses.
In addition, retail industry associations depend on the Learner Community platform to create and market e-learning products and continuing education services to members.
“Xerox became one of the largest providers of customer care services to the pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare industries when we acquired TMS Health in 2010,” said Connie Harvey, chief operating officer of Xerox’s commercial services business. “The addition of LearnSomething broadens our capabilities tailored for these fast-growing industries and gives our clients the advantage of a progressive e-learning platform for the rapid deployment of relevant information and education tools.”
LearnSomething’s Advisor solutions make it possible for pharmaceutical and packaged goods manufacturers to deliver instant messages about new and updated products to pharmacy and retail staff at the majority of retail pharmacy chain stores. This enables pharmacists, technicians and sales associates to become better prepared to engage with consumers and answer questions on new drugs, over-the-counter products, and even health, beauty and wellness products — right at the moment of purchase.
“About 500 new over-the-counter medications and health and beauty products hit the shelves every year,” said LearnSomething President and CEO Steve Roden. “And each launch brings its own unique product information that our clients need quickly so they can educate their customers. By joining Xerox, LearnSomething and our clients benefit from the comprehensive portfolio of industry-focused services delivered through Xerox’s respected business and brand.”
LearnSomething was named to the 2012 “Top 20 Learning Portal Companies" list by TrainingIndustry.com, and was awarded the 2012 Florida Governor’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Award.
Upon closing of the transaction, LearnSomething will go to market as “LearnSomething, A Xerox Company” and the company’s 50 employees will continue to be led by Roden.
