Seamless new distributor of prepaid cards and Electronic Top-Up in Sweden

– Launching sales in some 400 Axfood stores

STOCKHOLM--()--Nasdaq OMX-listed company Seamless will be distributing prepaid cards to the Swedish mobile telephony market. As a first step, Seamless will distribute the cards and Top-Up via some 400 stores belonging to the Axfood group. Sales will begin in July and are expected to boost Seamless’s sales by around SEK 100 million on an annual basis.

Seamless, which has operations in 28 countries, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of systems for topping up prepaid cards. In 2011 the company opted to move further up the value chain and become its own distributor, instead of simply being the technology supplier that delivers the systems to the distributors. This resulted in the acquisition of the Baltic region distributor Lettel the same year.

For the Swedish market, the decision in 2011 means that Seamless is closing down the systems used by distributors on 15 August 2013 and will consequently terminate its collaboration with the last remaining distribution customer in Sweden on that date.

“The agreement with Axfood marks an excellent start to our distribution operations in the Swedish market. Moving up the value chain will increase our sales significantly and have a positive effect on our profit. Our competitive situation is very strong given that our existing cash system integrations can handle transactions both from our SEQR mobile payment service and other electronic products such as prepaid cards and Top-Up for mobile telephony,” says Peter Fredell, CEO of Seamless.

Seamless has 12 years’ experience of supplying systems for topping up electronic prepaid cards for mobile operators and distributors, and processes more than 3 billion transactions annually.
