Accenture Military Career Coach to Support Veterans Seeking Employment

New online tool features instruction on career planning, resume development, social media use and job interviews

NEW YORK--()--Accenture (NYSE:ACN) today announced the launch of the Accenture Military Career Coach, an online tool for veterans transitioning out of the military and seeking employment in the private sector.

The tool offers instructional content and videos – featuring Accenture recruiters, including those with military experience – that cover areas such as career planning, resume writing and interviewing. LinkedIn contributed content on how to create a LinkedIn profile, connect with peers, join groups, follow companies and establish an online professional identity as part of a job search.

“Both hiring veterans and equipping them to find employment outside Accenture is a top priority for us,” said Jill Smart, chief human resources officer, Accenture. “We designed this new tool to help veterans overcome challenges in their post-service job search, such as writing a resume that will attract corporate recruiters, building an online brand and learning interview skills.”

Launched in the U.S., the Accenture Military Career Coach is part of the company’s overall commitment to attract and hire veterans from any branch of the military.

Accenture is also working with initiatives such as the Wounded Warrior Project, 100,000 Jobs Mission and American Corporate Partners to help veterans transition from deployment to employment.

“Military veterans looking to start a career in the private sector may not be familiar with communicating their military experience and skills in a resume or online profile that translates to civilian work, or have the network to help in their search,” said head of LinkedIn for Good, Meg Garlinghouse. “By sharing best practices on creating a profile, guidance on connecting with peers and using social media as part of a job search, we strive to help veterans build a network that will help them succeed in their job searches and career transitions.”
