RS Medical Reaches Settlement on Investigation

VANCOUVER, Wash.--()--International Rehabilitative Sciences, Inc., d/b/a RS Medical, today announced it has reached a settlement with the United States Department of Justice addressing actions taken by two former field representatives dating back to 2005.

The agreement is in compromise of disputed claims and is neither an admission of facts or liability by RS Medical. Since the initiation of this investigation in early 2011, RS Medical has fully supported and cooperated with the US Department of Justice. As part of this settlement, the company has agreed to make payments over five years that will total $1.2M plus interest as well as enter into a Corporate Integrity Agreement with the Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

As a matter of course, RS Medical continues to improve and strengthen its education and training to hundreds of it employees. Further, over the past two years RS Medical has invested millions of dollars developing state-of-the-art systems and processes to meet the government’s upcoming ICD-10 requirement impacting physicians and the medical device industry.

“After supporting this investigation concerning actions taken during a period of time when we employed over 300 field representatives, this agreement centers on two former employees. We are pleased to have reached an agreement after two years of investigation by the DOJ. We will continue our commitment to the highest standards of ethical conduct,” said John Konsin, President and CEO of RS Medical.
