BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The LearningbyGivingFoundation announces GivingWithPurpose, the first ever Massive Open Online Course (M.O.O.C.) on effective charitable giving. The course is free and offers everyone the opportunity to make real grants using the foundation’s money. Pre-registration is now open on LearningbyGivingFoundation’s website www.learningbygivingfoundation.org.
This new M.O.O.C. is comprised of six compact classes and will provide tools and strategies to help course participants invest their charitable dollars effectively. Lessons are complemented by interviews with guest speakers including Warren Buffett, Doris Buffett, Cal Ripken, Jr., Soledad O’Brien, Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield.
The course is authored and taught exclusively for the LearningbyGivingFoundation by Rebecca Riccio, the Founding Program Director of a Northeastern University experiential philanthropy education program that uses real-dollar grant making to teach students how to effect social change.
“‘GivingWithPurpose” allows us to extend the classroom walls to include any individual passionate about philanthropy. There are thousands of people with the energy and ideas to make a difference.” said Doris Buffett, first benefactor and Founder of the LearningbyGivingFoundation. She continued, “This course teaches them how to give effectively and provides the capital to make it happen.”
GivingWithPurpose has been developed on CourseBuilder, an open source project led by Google. The Course Builder project was put in motion because Google believes it can contribute to the rapidly changing area of open education and they are making this knowledge available to the world so that others may build M.O.O.C.s.
