Stonestreet One Joins ARM / Avnet Embedded Software Store

DESIGN West 2013

LOUISVILLE, Ky.--()--Stonestreet One, a leading provider of Bluetooth® software solutions since 2000, announced today that the company is making available its Bluetopia® Bluetooth protocol stack via the ARM / Avnet Embedded Software Store, an embedded marketplace bringing developers and software vendors together to provide solutions for customers in the embedded software space.

With 24/7 worldwide availability, the Embedded Software Store provides an easy method for developers to obtain the highly reliable and widely adopted Classic and Low Energy Bluetooth software from Stonestreet One. Versions of Bluetopia will be available for several popular ARM® Cortex™-M3/M4 MCUs but will only work with Texas Instruments Incorporated (NASDAQ: TXN) Bluetooth® v4.0 technology-based CC2560 and CC2564 wireless devices to enable fitness, sensor, remote control and data transfer in industrial and consumer applications. The downloaded software package will include getting started guides, documentation and support and is fully qualified to enable quick time to market.

“It has been our desire to make our Bluetopia software more readily available through traditional distributor channels,” said Tim Reilly, president of Stonestreet One. “Having our software available on the Embedded Software Store for several ARM based products achieves that goal and also gives companies choices for processors that can be used with our software and TI Bluetooth.”

“The addition of Stonestreet One’s stack on the Embedded Software Store gives developers online access to add Bluetooth connectivity to a wide variety of ARM-based MCUs such as the recently announced Tiva™ C series from TI,” said Dana Myers, channel marketing manager, Wireless Connectivity Solutions, TI. “The combination of Stonestreet One’s Bluetooth stack and TI’s CC2560 and CC2564 high performance and cost effective devices enable Bluetooth or dual-mode Bluetooth/Bluetooth low energy connectivity across many platforms to fuel innovation in new sports and fitness, smart watch, audio and phone accessory applications.”

TI’s CC2560 device offers Bluetooth v4.0 “classic” support for audio and data applications requiring high throughput. The CC2564 device supports two options: dual-mode Bluetooth/Bluetooth low energy or dual-mode Bluetooth/ANT+. Applications that benefit from the dual-mode solution include those that require wireless communication to Bluetooth “classic” products and Bluetooth low energy or ANT+ devices such as sports and fitness aggregator gadgets or smart watches. The dual-mode Bluetooth v4.0 offering can also be used as a sensor solution that delivers longer range to communicate with mobile devices that may or may not have Bluetooth low energy technology.

Stonestreet One is attending Design West, April 22-25, 2013 in San Jose, CA. Look for Stonestreet One representatives at the McEnery Convention Center, Booth #1227 to learn more about the Embedded Software Store offerings.
