Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia Announces the Addition of 200 New Jobs

COLUMBUS, Ga.--()--As part of a comprehensive effort to support its customers as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is implemented, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia (BCBSGa) announced today the addition of 200 plus new jobs to be located at its facility in Columbus.

“This is an exciting day for our company and for the city of Columbus,” said Morgan Kendrick, President, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia. “These are important jobs with solid benefits and the new positions will be specifically focused on helping our customers better navigate the changes that are coming under the ACA.”

As one of state’s major employers, BCBSGa currently employs nearly 3,000 associates in eight locations across Georgia. Mr. Kendrick added that the new positions will be housed at the company’s facility on Warm Springs Road and will include both entry level and managerial positions in the areas of customer service, claims, training and other operational functions. With the addition of the new jobs, BCBSGa will have more than 1400 associates in Columbus.

“We’re very excited to see these jobs coming to our city,” said Teresa Tomlinson, Mayor of the City of Columbus. “It will provide a real boost to our local economy and we’re looking forward to partnering closely with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia in this effort.”

According to Mr. Kendrick, the new jobs are being filled in phases with all hiring expected to be concluded by late summer. “As a local Georgia corporate citizen for more than 75 years, we’re proud of our long legacy as a major employer. Today’s announcement truly represents a ‘win-win’. We would like to thank our partners with the City of Columbus, The Development Authority of Columbus, The Georgia Department of Labor, The Greater Columbus Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgia Department of Economic Development for continued support of our growth in the State. Through this supportive partnership, we are able to provide these key jobs to help better service our customers.”

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Georgia also announced that it will be holding a job fair on Saturday, April 20th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event is presented in partnership with the Georgia Department of Labor and will be held at their Columbus, GA location at 700 Veterans Parkway.
