Support Totaling $200,000 Will Further Research and Clinician Education

PITTSBURGH--()--The AVA Foundation today announced it has received $200,000 from the Association for Vascular Access (AVA). This action underlines the support from AVA and its members for the foundation and its mission of saving lives through risk-free vascular access.

“We are extremely grateful to AVA and its board for their continued belief in the AVA Foundation,” said Denise Macklin, BSN, RNC, VA-BC, president of the foundation's board of directors. “In particular, this support enables the foundation to establish a $100,000 endowment fund. The endowment will play an essential role in helping us attract other grants that are crucial to our long-term success.”

The remainder of the money granted the AVA Foundation will be used in large part to:

  • Create scholarships for education, clinical projects, and research by vascular access clinicians
  • Deepen the foundation’s dialogue with high-profile clinical thought leaders
  • Enhance general awareness of the foundation’s role in lifesaving vascular access
  • Develop corporate and other sources of financial support
  • Improve awareness of the foundation among the AVA membership.

“The AVA Foundation plays an essential role in furthering the science of vascular access,” said AVA’s president, Paul Blackburn, RN, BSN, MNA, VA-BC. “Our board’s strong commitment to the foundation recognizes its substantial contribution to helping AVA realize its goals of improving patient outcomes, optimizing professionals’ knowledge, and sharing best clinical practices.”
