ExactTarget Foundation Awards First Grant to Fund Programs at Indianapolis Charter School

Foundation’s $50,000 Grant to Charles A. Tindley School Will Fund Charter School’s Expanded Reading, Extracurricular Programs

INDIANAPOLIS--()--The ExactTarget Foundation awarded its first grant today, donating $50,000 to the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School in Indianapolis, funding new academic and athletics programs at the metropolitan charter school.

The non-profit entity of global digital marketing provider ExactTarget (NYSE:ET) funded drums for the school’s music program, books for reading rooms, equipment to start a baseball program and supports the school’s effort to convert a parking lot into a multi-purpose athletic field and running track.

“We are honored that the ExactTarget Foundation chose our school to make its first major grant,” said Marcus Robinson, chancellor and chief executive officer of Charles A. Tindley School. “This grant provides our students even more extracurricular and academic opportunities that will broaden and enhance their educational experience.”

Located at 3960 Meadows Dr. in Indianapolis, the Charles A. Tindley Accelerated School educates more than 600 middle- and high school students, preparing them for a college education. In the school’s six years, 100 percent of students have been accepted into a college or university. Currently, more than 85 percent of Tindley graduates are still in college or have graduated.

In addition to announcing its first grant, the Foundation also announced today its board of directors has appointed ExactTarget veteran Karen Jung as the Foundation’s first program director. Jung has served with ExactTarget for more than nine years in numerous product and leadership roles and is involved in a number of philanthropic efforts in Indiana and internationally.

“The academic model at the Tindley School has a proven track record at all levels,” said Jung. “The ExactTarget Foundation is delighted to provide the resources to support the programs that will enhance the total student experience.”

Established in late 2011, the ExactTarget Foundation’s mission is to combat childhood hunger, advance education and accelerate entrepreneurship through a combination of grant making and employee volunteer programs.
