Nigel Smith Joins Grant Thornton as US Financial Services Advisory Leader

NEW YORK--()--Nigel JN Smith, 48, has joined Grant Thornton LLP as the firm’s US Financial Services Advisory leader, based in New York.

In this role, Smith will take responsibility for expanding and leading the firm’s efforts across all of its Advisory Service lines in the Financial Services sector.

“Nigel, combined with our growing team of Financial Services professionals, will play a key role in expanding the solutions and capabilities we offer our clients,” said Steve Lukens, Grant Thornton’s national managing principal for Advisory Services.

“As we help our clients navigate regulatory change and pursue growth, Nigel’s extraordinary leadership skills and experience will be integral in continuing the firm’s strong Financial Services growth,” added Nichole Jordan, Grant Thornton’s National Banking and Securities industry leader.

With more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, Smith has served large global banking and insurance clients in the areas of business strategy, risk and finance, performance management, CRM as well as organization and talent management.

He joins Grant Thornton from Accenture, where he was recently leader of the North American Financial Services Management Consulting practice and was responsible for its Financial Services Innovation Center in North America. He began his career in the bank training program at JPMorgan in London. He then moved into management consulting at Andersen Consulting and expanded his experience as the firm developed into Accenture. After London, he took an assignment leading a major bank transformation program in Turkey and then moved to New York in 2007.

Smith attended the University of York in the United Kingdom.
