VirtualWorks Fortifies Management Team with Addition of Three Software Industry Veterans

Doubles development team bench strength

BOCA RATON, Fla.--()--VirtualWorks Group, the pioneer in content virtualization solutions for tackling data sprawl, today announced the addition of three software industry veterans to new senior executive positions. Jeffrey Krantz has joined as Chief Technology Officer; Andy Stergiades as Vice President, Products Group; and Charlie Clements as Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing.

All three executives were key players during the formative years of Citrix Systems, which was co-founded by VirtualWorksTM CEO and Chairman Edward Iacobucci. In addition, the company has significantly enhanced its engineering staff, adding five senior software developers since the beginning of the year. On average, each new technical team member brings more than 23 years of deep, systems software development experience.

The new team is focused on rolling out the company’s first products built on the ViaWorks™ platform, content virtualization software that makes all of a company’s data instantly available, no matter the format, structure, application or location.

“Jeff and Andy possess systems development experience unmatched in enterprise software, and were integral members of the team that built the foundation for Citrix to become a $2 billion-plus company,” said Iacobucci. “Charlie is a world-class sales and marketing professional whose team drove rapid growth at Citrix. With these additions, VirtualWorks is poised to take advantage of this great, new market opportunity for a software solution that will allow businesses to easily organize and manipulate all of their data, when they need it.”

“Our technical team is outstanding, possessing the advanced talent and skills required to tackle the difficult development tasks inherent in building a new framework to index and manage data,” Iacobucci said. “They have all been there before, and their experience with major product and technology advances in software will pay huge dividends for us.”

Jeffrey Krantz

Krantz is responsible for VirtualWorks’ overall technology vision and direction. He brings more than 35 years of system software development, technology leadership and history of innovation to the company. Krantz was lead architect and designer for the initial technical team at Citrix Systems.

During his 12-year tenure, he led development teams responsible for the core remote Windows display technology and its integration into OS/2 and Windows NT Server platforms, as well as heterogeneous clients. He also served as director of technology strategy. Prior to Citrix, he spent 10 years at IBM, including working with Iacobucci in the OS/2 Architecture and Strategy department.

Andy Stergiades

Stergiades oversees product planning, engineering, IT and strategic partnerships, with almost 40 years of software architecture, design, development, licensing and business management experience. A member of the Citrix founding team, Stergiades spent 15 years at the company where he held progressive levels of responsibility across engineering, technology licensing, acquisition, and strategy functions. He was director of software engineering until 1998, and from 1998 to 2004, served as vice president of strategy and technology. Prior to Citrix, Stergiades was at IBM for seven years and was part of Iacobucci’s team in the OS/2 Architecture and Strategy department.

Charlie Clements

Clements leads the team responsible for driving revenue growth worldwide, managing sales, channels and marketing. He has more than 25 years experience in software sales, marketing, operations and channel management, including six years at Citrix, where he was vice president, Americas and was responsible for all revenues, channel development, marketing and operations for the western hemisphere.

Technical Team

VirtualWorks has assembled a technical team with tremendous depth in complex systems development from organizations such as Citrix, IBM, Motorola, Myxer and Burroughs. The senior team has amassed more than 260 years of experience in system architecture and design, and boasts of accomplishments ranging from: building mission-critical software that supported the daily operations of an air carrier, including reservations, flight information and passenger check-in used by customer care and gate agents; to developing a highly scalable clustering architecture for Citrix servers that improved scalability from 10 to 1,000 servers; to overseeing all releases for the Citrix flagship WinView, WinFrame and MetaFrame product lines.
