AirStrip Launches AirStrip ONE: Industry’s First Complete Enterprise-Wide Mobile Interoperability Solution

Dignity Health Selects AirStrip ONE for Clinical Transformation Initiatives, Enabling Seamless Market Expansion and Supporting Accountable Care Strategy

SAN ANTONIO--()--Health systems today are under more pressure than ever to improve clinical and business outcomes and increase market share, often through physician group and facility acquisitions. But, integrating and delivering relevant clinical data across multiple geographies and care settings has remained a cumbersome and costly obstacle.

Launched today, AirStrip ONE™ will initially be implemented at Dignity Health as the first enterprise-wide, data- and vendor-agnostic mobility solution to securely deliver patient data from medical devices, electronic medical records (EMRs) and patient monitors to clinicians anywhere across the care continuum. The long-awaited key to mobile healthcare interoperability, AirStrip ONE enables more timely and collaborative clinical decision-making, and allows health systems to better track critical quality metrics, empower a mobile workforce, expand their networks, and ultimately achieve true clinical transformation.

“Most health systems today are working with a dizzying array of different EMRs, medical devices and other systems, all from different vendors, and are unable to really unlock the true value of these investments. At the same time, the days of physicians – particularly today’s overstretched specialists – practicing in one facility are numbered, as they are increasingly required to deliver care in multiple or remote locations,” said Alan Portela, AirStrip CEO. “As demonstrated through the commitment from Dignity Health, AirStrip ONE leverages the power of mobility to deliver the industry’s first enterprise-wide, vendor-agnostic mobile interoperability solution.”

AirStrip ONE Drives Mobile Interoperability Strategy at Dignity Health

AirStrip ONE will first be deployed at Dignity Health, a San Francisco-based health system with more than 300 care sites in 17 states, working together to co-develop AirStrip ONE uses in the primary care setting. The first implementations will be at Chandler Regional Medical Center (Chandler, Ariz.) and Mercy Gilbert Medical Center (Gilbert, Ariz.) in support of the recently-announced Medicare Accountable Care Organization (ACO), the Arizona Care Network. Extending the clinical and platform components of AirStrip ONE, Dignity Health and AirStrip will next mobilize St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz., including a critical integration with EMR data from Dignity Health’s house-wide Cerner system and Allscripts ambulatory system.

“We work with a variety of different physicians to coordinate care, each using different systems and requiring separate sign-ons,” said Dr. Shez Partovi, chief medical information officer, Dignity Health’s Arizona Service Area. “AirStrip ONE will help us deliver more coordinated care by allowing us to look at all the data in one place, no matter where our physicians are located.”

By enabling their physicians to become truly mobile, AirStrip ONE will allow Dignity Health to extend its delivery of specialty care and areas of expertise across its facilities, while maintaining contact with their patient data in near-real-time. AirStrip will also provide ongoing support of Dignity Health’s ACO strategy, including its Arizona-based ACO with Vanguard Health, announced in July 2012.

AirStrip ONE: Breaking Down Barriers to Clinical Transformation

AirStrip ONE provides the architecture, platform and user experience that delivers on the promises of mobility. It allows for scalable clinical solutions that reflect the working styles and workflows of busy clinicians, while enabling teams to achieve improvements in key metrics such as reduced readmissions. AirStrip ONE also reduces the burden on providers’ IT organizations, as the solution is managed by AirStrip’s Transformation Services team.

The complete AirStrip enterprise mobility solution includes:

  • A set of Clinical Mobility Solutions
    • AirStrip ONE OB, for labor and delivery;
    • AirStrip ONE Cardiology, to aid decision-making from pre-hospital/EMS through Emergency Services, inpatient care, critical care and discharge. Recently extended through a partnership with CardioNet, AirStrip ONE Cardiology is central to providing care across the entire cardiac care continuum;
    • AirStrip ONE EMR, providing connectivity to patient health data across a wide variety of EMR systems; and,
    • AirStrip ONE Patient Monitoring, enabling access to data from any monitored location across a wide variety of medical devices
  • The AirStrip ONE Core Mobility Platform, which provides interoperability and other services to clinical applications, and hides the complexity of data access and transport from end-users:
    • Medical Device Connectivity;
    • EMR/EHR Adapters;
    • Single Sign On (SSO);
    • Context Management;
    • Strong, HIPAA-compliant security; and,
    • Other platform services required for specific applications.
  • AirStrip Accelerator Services, which ensure rapid deployment, long-term clinician acceptance and health systems’ achievement of goals:
    • Pre-sale Assessment and Baselining;
    • Comprehensive Project Management and Support;
    • Reporting and Analytics; and,
    • Clinical Transformation Consulting.

Other AirStrip ONE components, including support for medical imaging, HIE connectivity, secure messaging and video conferencing, will be available later this year.

AirStrip will be demonstrating AirStrip ONE and its component clinical solutions at HIMSS13 in New Orleans, March 3-7, in booth #1721.
