The Spectacular Shrine Circus Returns to Southeast Michigan in March

Daily dazzling performances under the Big Top and extended run with additional weekend
in Hazel Park and special one-day performance in Port Huron

HAZEL PARK, Mich.--()--Experience the wonder and magic of the Detroit Shrine Circus under the “World’s Largest Big Top” with amazing aerial acts, acrobats and an array of extraordinary animals. The Shrine Circus, which started in Detroit by the Detroit Moslem Temple Shriners in 1906, is extending the circus’ run with two full weekends in Hazel Park from March 21-24 and March 28-31 and an added one-day performance on March 26 in Port Huron.

The 107th Annual Shrine Circus will feature dazzling and breathtaking performances by acclaimed international acts which will astonish circus-goers of all ages. Join Ringmaster Richard Curtis for an action-packed experience featuring the world’s largest performing elephant, the biggest lions act, prancing horses, clown comedy and more. New this year will be opportunities to meet and take photos with the Easter Bunny during Easter weekend, a bicycle giveaway at every performance and a chance to win a spot in upcoming parades with the Shriners.

“Our Shrine Circus Big Top gives children and adults an up-close and intimate experience with our exciting lineup of world famous acts,” said Chuck Baer, Circus Director. “It has become a worldwide phenomenon and the largest fundraiser for Shriners throughout the US and Canada.”

Children of all ages are welcome to marvel at the magnificent big top performances, and lose themselves in the whimsical sideline entertainment that includes cheery clowns, exotic elephant rides, colorful face painting and moon bouncing and much more. Concessions are available throughout the performance.

The Detroit Moslem Temple Shriners want to make attending the Shrine Circus possible for underprivileged children and are providing nearly 10,000 complimentary tickets for morning and afternoon shows on Thursdays and Fridays to area elementary school classrooms (1st – 5th grades). Schools interested in applying for the free tickets are encouraged to complete the application on www.detroitshrinecircus.com. Deadline for submission is March 1st and schools must provide their own transportation.

Tickets are on sale now at www.DetroitShrineCircus.com Prices range from $8 - $50 (limited number of Ring Master Box seats) and are available online and at the box office. Children two and under are free (seated on parents lap). Discounted coupons are available at select local retailers, including Tubby’s locations and Genisys Credit Union.

Both locations, Hazel Park Raceway (corner of 10 Mile Road and Dequindre in Hazel Park) and McMorran Place (701 McMorran Boulevard, Port Huron) provide fenced, secured and lighted parking, a huge petting zoo, carnival attractions, and of course, the big show. Tents will be heated, handicap accessible and have first-class amenities.
