PODGORICA, Montenegro--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The .ME Registry, operator of the .ME domain extension, and Go Daddy, the world’s leading Web hosting and domain name provider, announce the third annual .ME scholarship contest. Ten technology-focused students will win a $10,000 scholarship to offset their college tuition.
The scholarship is open to students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who have also achieved an ACT score of 21+ or SAT score of 1,000+. To apply, applicants must submit a 500-word essay explaining how the Internet or Internet technology has helped them advance their athletic, artistic or intellectual pursuits, and how they envision benefitting from technology through college and beyond.
“As a company, we are very passionate about education and the way it can provide a talented young person with the tools needed to make a positive change,” said .ME Registry CEO Predrag Lesic. “We are pleased to be able to provide bright students with the resources they need to make a big splash in the tech world.”
Eligible U.S. students can submit applications at GoDaddyScholarship.me. Essays are judged on quality, creativity and originality. Over recent years, 20 students have received Go Daddy .ME Scholarships.
Lesic adds, “Dot ME partnered with Go Daddy to launch the scholarship program in 2010 as a way to support aspiring entrepreneurs and technologists. We are already hearing success stories from previous scholarship winners and are pleased that the contest has had such a positive impact.”
Over recent years, 20 students have received the Go Daddy .ME Scholarships, including entrepreneur Maddie Maschger. “Go Daddy made a huge difference in my life by contributing to my education, which has allowed me to pursue my passion for art and technology,” said Maschger, a Go Daddy customer who founded MissfitsMag.com, an online magazine for young artists and writers. “I am grateful to Go Daddy – not only for the scholarship opportunity – but for helping me create a forum to connect other online entrepreneurs.”
The application period ends March 30, 2013. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the end of April 2013. For more information about the Go Daddy .ME Scholarship program, please visit GoDaddyScholarship.me.
