Urgent Care Association of America Releases 2012 Benchmarking Report

NAPERVILLE, Ill.--()--The Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA) has recently released its 2012 Urgent Care Benchmarking Results. This biennial benchmarking survey is intended as a catalyst to spark dialogue on a national basis in order to determine what the results teach us and how we might implement them into a larger continuous quality improvement program for urgent care centers and industry in order to lead to enhanced outcomes and patient experience.

Benchmarking Study Committee Chair, J. Dale Key, explains the value of having this data available, “My desire is for UCAOA to continually produce the most accurate and meaningful industry information possible upon which urgent care owners and operators can rely in order to confidently manage their practices. The importance of having this information available to all urgent care providers, as well as to those who supply goods and services to the industry cannot be overstated."

  • The top ICD-9, CPT, and E&M Codes used
  • Average annual revenue, expense, marketing budgets and more
  • Clinical staffing strategies
  • Provider productivity data
  • Average charge vs. average reimbursement
  • Percentage of patients using urgent care as medical home
  • Utilization of national quality measures
  • Average population per center
  • Changes in patients per hour and average wait times

Key goes on to explain, "A very useful feature of this report is the trending from prior reports that provides urgent care owners and operators with the ability to see and understand in quantitative terms, the evolution of the urgent care industry, thus allowing them to better understand, compare and project the future direction of their own practices as well as the industry as a whole. This feature is equally important to those who supply goods and services to the industry by giving them information they need for their own product and service development and strategic planning purposes."
