PatientSafe Solutions Announces Key Management Appointments

Industry veterans to drive company’s vision, operations, and sales

SAN DIEGO--()--PatientSafe Solutions, a leader in smart point-of-care mobile solutions, today announced the appointment of industry veterans Frank Pecaitis to Senior Vice President of Sales and Bruce Eklund to Senior Vice President of Operations, respectively. In addition, Joseph Condurso, who served as PatientSafe’s President and Chief Operating Officer since 2011, was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in April 2012.

Under the new management structure, Mr. Condurso will drive PatientSafe’s vision, develop the product strategy, and lead its senior management team as the company continues to commercialize and innovate smart point-of-care mobile solutions for the clinical setting. Mr. Pecaitis will provide leadership to the company’s sales efforts. Mr. Eklund will provide leadership of the company’s operations, including manufacturing, client implementations, integration, and technical support services; account management; and corporate wide program and quality management to ensure PatientSafe continues to build on its track record of delivering customer success.

“2012 has brought great momentum to PatientSafe’s commercialization and product development aims,” said Condurso. “With Frank and Bruce’s extensive industry experience now supporting the management team, we’re excited to continue that momentum and push forward with some key milestones in 2013. In the coming months, we’ll be building upon the technology foundation of PatientSafe’s platform, working to introduce new products that meet the mobility needs of a rapidly evolving healthcare environment while making that environment a safer place for patients and providers.”

PatientSafe Solutions is leveraging clinical mobile technology with real-time data capture at the point-of-care to enhance patient safety, optimize EMR investment, and increase clinician efficiency and satisfaction. In February of 2012, PatientSafe Solutions released its latest generation product, PatientTouch™. The PatientTouch platform includes a series of clinical workflow and documentation applications that encompasses barcode positive patient identification (PPID), patient centric care interventions, clinical communications, and collaboration.

Frank Pecaitis brings more than twenty years’ experience leading high performance teams among healthcare IT companies ranging from startup ventures to global conglomerates. He joins PatientSafe Solutions from GE Healthcare, where he served as an executive level sales leader for the $1.3 billion information technology solutions segment. While at GE, Pecaitis received GE Healthcare America’s Leadership Award for driving significant sales growth. Previously Pecaitis held executive level sales and marketing roles at Medsphere Systems Corporation, a leading commercial provider of open source-based electronic health record (EHR) systems and services, and QuadraMed Corporation, where he was instrumental in growing market share and building a national reputation for its flagship products.

Bruce Eklund joins PatientSafe Solutions from AHM, a professional organization supporting operations for 17 of the top 25 pharmaceutical companies in the world, where he served as Senior Vice President of global service delivery and operations. Previously Eklund managed various operations for global healthcare leaders including Care Fusion, CardinalHealth, and Cerner. Eklund earned an MBA from the University of Minnesota.

“I am thrilled to be working with such a talented team of professionals to enable providers and health systems to enter the next generation of healthcare IT in the post-PC era, and generate measurable impact on patient safety and quality of care,” continued Condurso. “Considering the significant barrier to entry for a new health technology, I am particularly proud that PatientSafe Solutions has a 97% adoption rate at its installed base of over 70 hospitals. In a recent 12 site study, we eliminated 99% of medication administration errors, a benchmark we will strive to continue to set as we expand into new technologies, products, and client centers.”
