Cecile Pryor, a New Jersey mother of three submitted a photo she says she captured while volunteering during the Hurricane Sandy. In the wake of Sandy Citybuzz asked participants to take a picture of “what matters” to them and enter the contest which ended December 13.)--
“That house looked good compared to others”
Cecile, creator of theshoppingduck.com snapped a powerful picture of a Union Beach, N.J. home sliced in half by Sandy. She was volunteering with her family and took the photo to memorialize the historic storm. Lisa Phillips, Toby Devan Lewis Director of New Museum judged the contest and called the photo "piercing."
“That house looked good compared to others,” says Cecile of Edison, N.J. "What matters to me is helping others less fortunate.”
As a busy entrepreneur, Cecile rarely gets to the city and when notified about her prize she said, “Seeing New York City by night will be a real treat. We never get to do that. I want to go out to a new restaurant and see a show.” Citybuzz, a subsidiary of Vidicom, and its partners are treating Cecile and her husband to a NYC Insider weekend of Broadway theater, museums, a visit to the 911 memorial, a Bloomingdale’s gift certificate and great restaurants.
Citybuzz additionally selected five runner ups who will receive gift bags filled with NYC collectibles. Also an iPad Mini will be bestowed to blogger Mayka Mei of themaykazine.com for her photo submission entitled “Spirit.” Contest sponsors include jetBlue, Affinia Hotel New York, City Lobster, SD26, New Museum and Bloomingdale’s.
