VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Attain, LLC, a leading public sector, health, and higher education professional services company, today announced that Mr. Richard McKinless, former Partner of KPMG’s Not-for-Profit practice, has joined the company as Director of Strategic Finance.
In his new role, Mr. McKinless will be responsible for leading finance and enterprise risk management initiatives under Attain’s Strategic Finance service line, helping charities, universities, and other not-for-profit organizations align resources with strategy, enhance governance processes, and identify financial operations improvements.
Mr. McKinless will report to John O’Neill, President, Higher Education and Academic Medical Centers. He will work closely with Ron Salluzzo, who leads Attain’s Strategic Finance practice and who is a principal author of the industry leading publication Strategic Financial Analysis for Higher Education.

Mr. McKinless’ roles at KPMG included serving as one of six U.S. partners comprising KPMG’s initial National Not-For-Profit Leadership Team, which advised the firm’s premier philanthropic and higher education clients nationally on governance issues, best practices, and critical trends facing the charitable sector. With extensive financial experience, including financial management, not-for-profit governance, strategic planning, budgeting, internal control, and organizational efficiency, Mr. McKinless is not only well versed in understanding the needs of the organizations Attain serves, but also well equipped with deep industry insight to provide effective, forward thinking solutions.
During his career at KPMG, Mr. McKinless also served as a national instructor for firm professional development programs, as well as the Mid-Atlantic Partner In-Charge of University Recruiting. During his final three years at KPMG, Mr. McKinless led the expansion of KPMG’s Alumni Partner Relations Program.
