California Libraries to Celebrate “Recycle For Reading” Month

TUSTIN, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--As part of a statewide effort to promote literacy and environmental awareness, California libraries will participate in a month-long e-waste collection that will offer their communities environmentally safe and responsible recycling of household and business electronics. Hundreds of libraries throughout the state of California will partner with All Green Electronics Recycling, an e-Stewards Certified company, for “Recycle for Reading Month,” beginning January 2^nd, 2013 through January 31^st, 2013. The event aims to help keep electronic waste out of local landfills by ensuring safe and responsible recycling or upgrading outdated electronics for reuse. As part of its commitment to statewide public libraries and as a supporter of the No Child Left Behind Act, All Green pledges to donate restored and upgraded computers to participating libraries that wish to donate a computer to households in need of computer technology. Participating libraries will use special bookmarks and resources to notify the public while All Green will provide all of the logistics for the collection events, including labor, transportation and domestic recycling. The goal will be to collect computers, monitors, laptops, televisions, VCRs, DVD players, cell phones, mp3 players, ink toner cartridges, printers, microwaves, cables and wires, calculators and any small or portable electronics.
