ALFA Opens Nominations for 2013 Hero Awards

ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) today opened nominations for the ALFA 2013 Hero Awards, the organization’s annual recognition of the hundreds of thousands of dedicated professionals who compassionately serve seniors residing in senior living communities.

Executives of senior living communities may go to www.alfa.org/heroawards to learn more and nominate community staff members for this nationwide awards program. Nominated staff members should champion choice, dignity, independence and quality of life for residents and embody the “servant heart” spirit of hundreds of thousands of people who serve seniors each day in senior living communities. ALFA will announce the 2013 Heroes and honor them at COMMUNITY 2013, the annual ALFA Conference and Expo, May 7-9, 2013 in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In 2012, nearly 650 ALFA Hero nominations were submitted. Those nominated for ALFA Hero Awards included community nurses, staff members and volunteers. The winners were selected based on the articulation of their commitment, compassion and expressed joy in championing quality of life for the seniors they assist every day in independent living, assisted living and memory care communities.

Nominations for these ALFA awards and competitions will close on January 11, 2013.
