NTT America CTO Delivers Keynote Presentation on Software-defined Networking

Ethernet Expo Attendees Gain Insight from NTT Com’s SDN First Mover Advantage

Ethernet Expo Americas 2012

NEW YORK--()--NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) and its wholly owned subsidiary NTT America, a global IT infrastructure services provider, today announced NTT America CTO, Doug Junkins, will share insight into the transformative networking trend of software-defined networking (SDN) with attendees of Light Reading’s Ethernet Expo Americas 2012. Light Reading’s Ethernet Expo, taking place in New York City, November 6 – 8, 2012, is one of the premier Carrier Ethernet networking events of the year. The event assembles experts from the service provider, supplier and analyst communities to present the latest trends in Ethernet to hundreds of avid service provider network planners, engineers and marketing professionals in attendance.

On November 7 at 8:55 a.m. EST, Mr. Junkins, an authority in the service provider community, will deliver a keynote presentation during the portion of the event dedicated to Industry Perspectives On Software Defined Networking/Programmable Networks. He will join experts from the industry standards and network solutions vendor communities to offer unique perspectives on the emergence of SDN/programmable networks. Mr. Junkins’ session will profile the potential cost-saving benefits that SDN provides network operators and the game-changing opportunities it presents service providers to differentiate their service and applications portfolios. As NTT America’s CTO, Mr. Junkins is responsible for the company’s technology procurement strategy and vendor selection, industry relations and standardization efforts, and product portfolio coordination across the Global IP Network, Data Center Services and Global Solutions business units of NTT America.

Mr. Junkins will highlight NTT Com’s position as the first service provider to apply SDN technology through the OpenFlow protocol to its infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offering, the new NTT Com Enterprise Cloud. SDN helps clients that have significant cloud capacity requirements; it optimizes traffic flows and cloud workloads between and among data center facilities and separate clouds, supporting a more scalable and efficient provisioning model for on-demand delivery.

NTT Com’s new Enterprise Cloud provides global cloud resources that enterprise customers can easily control and manage to optimize their IT costs and support the global expansion of corporate operations. Many multinational enterprises with growing global operations are struggling with long lead times to expand and modify their IT systems, which can delay their response to rapid changes in the market. NTT Com solves this dilemma by providing flexible cloud services, employing virtualized servers and networks, and a convenient customer portal, to enable automatic system changes.
