Manex Announces New “Made in Northern California” Program for Northern California’s Manufacturers

SAN RAMON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Corporation for Manufacturing Excellence (Manex) announced today the creation of a new “Made in Northern California” program for Northern California manufacturers. The goal of the online program is to showcase products made in the Golden State and highlight the contributions of the manufacturing sector. The program will also entail “Made in Northern California” social media sites, where professionals can network and discuss industry topics.

“California’s manufacturing sector is an integral part of our state’s economy,” says Gene Russell, CEO and Executive Director. “The Golden State is home to more than 44,000 manufacturers who employ approximately 1.4 million people.”

As part of the program, Manex has created an online directory of manufacturers and their products. Manufacturers can sign up as a program member at no cost to obtain a company profile page, where they can share their logo, description, contact information, company news, pictures and videos of their products. Program participants receive additional benefits including a “Made in Northern California” certificate to display in their facilities and the program logo to exhibit on their websites.

“The online directory will allow visitors to more easily purchase products made in California,” adds Russell. “The program encourages our state’s businesses and residents to support the manufacturing community and stimulate our state’s economy.”

To provide additional visibility for members, there is a “Featured Manufacturer of the Week” section which will highlight a particular company on the program website, as well as on the “Made in Northern California” LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter pages. The social media platforms will serve as forums where participants can ask questions, network with one another and share thoughts on how to become more innovative and competitive.

The “Made in Northern California” program also supports the “Make it in America” program at the national level through NIST MEP. California joins states such as Michigan, Washington, Tennessee, Indiana and New Jersey in launching a “Made in your State” program.
