Bakersfield Sizzler Reopens Wednesday, Oct. 24 Following Extreme Makeover

Mt. Vernon Ave. restaurant to welcome guests again after March fire

TEMECULA, Calif.--()--Seven months after fire shuttered the Sizzler restaurant at 2650 Mt. Vernon Ave. in Bakersfield, the doors to an all new Sizzler will open at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.

"We call it the New Generation Sizzler," said Gary Myers, president of Temecula-based BMW Management, Sizzler's largest franchisee. "It's a vibrant atmosphere with exceptional staff hospitality and high-quality food."

The new exterior features a wood craftsman style color scheme, accented by American-themed murals and colorful LED lighting. An outdoor mesquite BBQ grills fresh tri tip steaks.

Inside, guests will notice the long ordering counter has been replace by sleek black granite and wood oval pods that allow personal interaction with the staff.

The indoor décor incorporates exterior elements, such as lifestyle murals, an earth-tone color palette and attention-getting LED lighting. Multi-level seating options give the dining room visual impact.

The Endless Salad Bar remains the main attraction in the dining room. Space allowed for the addition of a demonstration station, where guests can watch salads being prepared. As in all Sizzlers, salads are made fresh throughout the day and hand tossed. Most soups are made from scratch, and even salad dressings are home made. The salad bar also includes hot appetizers and freshly prepared desserts.

Along with fresh – never frozen – tri tip steaks served as an entrée or as a sandwich, the Sizzler menu includes fresh hamburgers, fresh salmon, Steak & Lobster, Unlimited Shrimp and classic Malibu Chicken. Refreshments include fountain drinks, beer, wine, specialty beverages and Limeades.

"We are grateful the Bakersfield Fire Department responded so quickly when a deep fryer accidentally ignited last March," said Sally Myers, vice president of Marketing. "Since we had to remodel the kitchen, I'm thrilled we gutted the entire building and built from scratch our New Generation look. This was a big investment in Bakersfield, and the restaurant is unlike any other Sizzler the community has seen."

The Sizzler restaurant is located at 2650 Mt. Vernon Ave. near Highway 178 in Bakersfield. The 80-person staff completed training in cooking, hospitality and guest service prior to the opening. BMW Management operates another Bakersfield Sizzler at 900 Real Road.
