Board at Chrysalis Holdings, LLC Welcomes Three New Directors

General James Jones, Lieutenant General Benjamin Freakley and Jerry L. Johnson join leadership team, support investment company’s expansion

The company welcomes three accomplished business leaders and adds U.S. military experience to lead the Chrysalis and NewDay USA teams:

  • Gen. James Jones, (USMC Ret.), who served as National Security Advisor to President Obama after retiring in 2007 from his dual-hatted post as the Supreme Allied Commander, Europe and Commander, United States European Command. From July 1999 to January 2003, Gen. Jones served as the 32nd Commandant of the Marine Corps.
  • Lt. Gen. Benjamin C. Freakley, (USA Ret.), who served as the Commanding General of U.S. Army Accessions Command, responsible for leading worldwide recruiting efforts as well as overseeing the nation’s ROTC programs. He commanded the 10th Mountain Division (Light) and Fort Drum/Commanding General, Combined Joint Task Force-76, Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan from 2006 until 2007.
  • Jerry L. Johnson, who is a member of the President’s Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion and Integrative and Public Health and is a principal partner at Heffler, Radetich & Saitta LLP, a leading CPA and consulting firm in Philadelphia, where he leads the consulting and corporate development practice.

In addition to a 40-year military career, Gen. Jones has served on the board of The Boeing Company, Cross Match Technologies and Chevron, as well as prominent think tanks including the Center for Strategic and International Studies and the Atlantic Council. He is currently president of Jones Group International, a company he founded in 2011. JGI provides services and solutions relating to energy, U.S. market access, trade promotion and national security and operates in a strategic partnership with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. He serves on the board of General Dynamics, is a senior advisor for Deloitte Consulting and is a Fellow of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Among the many assignments during his career, Lt. Gen. Freakley commanded the Army’s largest training institute, the Infantry Center and School at Fort Benning, Ga., and served as Commander of the Operations Group at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, Calif. Following 36 years of active military service, Lt. Gen. Freakley is professor of Practice of Leadership at Arizona State University and special advisor for Leadership Initiatives to ASU President, Michael Crow. In 2010, he was named the Education Policy Leader of the Year for the National Association for State Board Educators.

Johnson has more than 30 years of experience with financial services firms and technology companies, starting his career with Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, an AT&T company. He is a recognized expert in corporate governance, business development, financial management, mergers and acquisitions and strategic development. He is also founder, co-chairman and board member of ESmith Legacy, Inc, a commercial real estate company and serves on the board for Bryn Mawr Trust Company and Savanna Inc. Johnson received the Distinguished Community Leadership Award from Operation Understanding in October 2010.
