More Wetland Credits Available for Sale Now near the Houston Area

Mitigation Solutions USA is pleased to announce that Daisetta Swamp Mitigation Bank’s credits have been released.

HOUSTON--()--Located in Liberty County, Daisetta Swamp Mitigation Bank is ideal for offsetting impacts to wetlands related to the oil and gas industry. Daisetta Swamp’s service area includes portions of Chambers, Galveston, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Tyler, and Walker counties.

Pipelines, fractionators and well pads are quite common in those counties. If building them will impact a wetland, the company must offer a plan to offset that impact in order to fulfill the Section 404 requirement to obtain a permit from the United States Army Corps of Engineers. That is true of any type of construction in the area, including road and bridge building and other development.

Why purchase credits?

Purchasing credits from an approved mitigation bank is the preferred means of offsetting unavoidable impacts to wetlands and streams.

“Purchasing credits from an approved mitigation bank offers the developer or company peace of mind,” explains MSUSA Vice President Troy Madrigal. “The mitigation bank retains liability for the restoration or preservation of the bank, so the purchaser can simply buy the credits and move on with their project in a simpler, more streamlined fashion than other options provide.” And as the bank’s progress is approved and required milestones are monitored by the Corps, this option is the best one for the healthy restoration of the environment as well.

“That’s why mitigation banking is the Gold Standard for offsetting impacts,” says MSUSA President Terry McKenzie.
