ReVision Optics Introduces Raindrop as Worldwide Brand for Its Inlay to Treat Presbyopia

Raindrop inlay to be featured in presentations at ESCRS 2012

LAKE FOREST, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ReVision Optics®, Inc. (RVO), a leader in implantable inlay technology to treat presbyopia, introduces the Raindrop™ Near Vision Inlay as the new worldwide brand for its proprietary, patented inlay. The Raindrop brand will replace Vue+® in the European Union, where the inlay has received CE Mark and is commercially available, and PresbyLens® in the United States, where it is currently being investigated in a Phase III clinical trial.

When placed upon the cornea, Raindrop looks just like a tiny water droplet – thus the name Raindrop. Additionally, the new brand will eliminate any confusion over multiple names for our product.

The Raindrop Near Vision Inlay is designed to be a surgical option for near and intermediate vision enhancement. It is a 2 millimeter diameter inlay that is placed on the cornea of the patient’s non-dominant eye during a 10-minute procedure. The Raindrop Near Vision Inlay, microscopically changes the shape of the cornea’ surface to correct for presbyopia. It is composed of approximately 80% water and is bioengineered to facilitate the normal or physiologic transport of nutrients and fluids within the cornea.
