Research and Markets: Malaysia Tourism Report Q3 2012 - Annual Tourism Revenue to Be More Than US$25bn by the End of The 2016

DUBLIN--()--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/3rjvtz/malaysia_tourism_r) has announced the addition of the "Malaysia Tourism Report Q3 2012" report to their offering.

The Malaysia Tourism Report examines the strong long-term potential being offered by the country's tourism industry, bolstered by quickly growing demand from emerging markets such as China, Russia and South Africa.

As of June 2012, the Ministry of Tourism has not released any monthly data on the evolution of tourism flows this year. In the absence of any concrete data, BMI has maintained its forecasts this quarter. These project a 5% increase in tourist arrivals over 2012 to reach 25.9mn. Beyond this year, BMI believes the government's target of attracting 36mn tourist arrivals by 2020 is achievable based on current trends, with their own forecasts projecting an increase of 28% in arrivals between the end of 2011 and the end of 2016. The author also forecasts a 36.2% increase in tourism revenue between 2011 and 2016, which should take annual tourism revenue to more than US$25bn by the end of the forecast period. Malaysia's tourism offering continues to win global plaudits. In April, staff at Kula Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) were awarded the Best Airport Staff Asia award at the Skytrax 2012 World Airport Awards. KLIA was named the eighth best airport in the world, up one place on its 2011 ranking.

Over the last quarter, BMI has revised the following forecasts and views:

In light of the strong increase in national room supply over 2011, BMI has revised up its forecast for the number of hotels and rooms opening in Malaysia over the forecast period. We now believe Malaysia will offer about 230,000 rooms by 2016, up from 210,000 forecast previously.
