Mercy Selects Humedica Platform to Support Patient Centered Medical Home and ACO Initiatives

Nation’s 6th largest Catholic health care system to use advanced clinical analytics to enable innovative approaches to improving population health

BOSTON & ST. LOUIS & ALEXANDRIA, Va.--()--Mercy, the nation’s 6th largest Catholic health care system, headquartered in St. Louis, Mo., and operating 31 hospitals and more than 200 clinics has selected Humedica MinedShare® as its clinical intelligence solution and has joined the American Medical Group Association’s Anceta collaborative.

Mercy will use Humedica MinedShare in several ways. “Humedica MinedShare will be central to both our patient centered medical home (PCMH) and accountable care organization (ACO) initiatives,” said Marc Gunter, MD, Mercy’s Clinical Vice President – Women’s Services. “Humedica will be integrating our vast amounts of clinical data from our integrated Epic electronic health record systems into MinedShare, which enables us to identify opportunities for population health improvement across many cohorts of patients,” he added.

“Mercy is a leader in both health care delivery to its patients and the integration of technology and health care IT solutions into its practice,” said Michael Weintraub, Humedica’s President and CEO. “We are excited that Mercy selected us as their partner for clinical intelligence and are proud to play a role in their efforts at improving quality of care,” he added.

“Comparative data focused on clinical care processes and patient outcomes, accompanied by shared learning activities with other American Medical Group Association (AMGA) members who have joined Anceta, is a very exciting opportunity for us,” said Shannon Sock, Mercy’s Executive Vice President, Organizational Effectiveness. “Being able to understand what approaches to care delivery other organizations are taking, examine how those approaches are impacting outcomes, and providing insight into our efforts will ultimately improve patient care and outcomes on a wide scale,” he commented.

“Mercy pioneered population health management as a participant in the Medicare Physician Group Practice demonstration program. They have long focused on clinical integration to enhance efficiency and patient outcomes, and they have been generous in sharing their learning with other AMGA members,” said Don Fisher, AMGA’s Chief Executive Officer. “Mercy provides care across the continuum in four states, and their practical insights will enrich our collaborative work on population health,” he added.
