TORONTO--()--Dairy Queen® (DQ®) Canada today celebrated the kick-off to the 10th Anniversary of Miracle Treat Day – a one-day fundraiser where one hundred per cent of proceeds from every Blizzard®Treat sold across the country is donated to Children’s Miracle Network. On Thursday July 26th all hands will be on deck, from DQ franchise owners, to local celebrities and DQ executives; everyone rolls up their sleeves to serve Blizzard Treats on Miracle Treat Day.

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel and Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Brett Cecil, joined by patients from The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) helped officially kickoff the 10th annual fundraiser amid a wintery “blizzard” scene at SickKids, where Kessel, Cecil and patients handed out 5,000 mini OREO® BlizzardTreats to passersby.

“I’m looking forward to participating in the 10th annual Miracle Treat Day. It should be a great event that helps kids in the community,” said Phil Kessel.

“I hope Dairy Queen reaches its goal this Miracle Treat Day. I’m glad I could participate,” said Brett Cecil.

Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day and associated fundraising activities have helped raise over $91 million since they began supporting Children’s Miracle Network in 1984. Dairy Queen is one of the top five contributors to Children’s Miracle Network in Canada.

“Every year we are shocked by the generous support we receive from our Dairy Queen customers, franchisees, and staff on Miracle Treat Day,” said Denise Hutton, Vice President, Marketing Dairy Queen Canada. “With these hot, hot temperatures I expect everyone will be in the mood to cool off and this is a great and rewarding way to do it.”

“By purchasing a Blizzard Treat on Miracle Treat Day you’ll be supporting your local Children’s Miracle Network member hospital,” said John Hartman, Chief Operating Officer, Canada, Children's Miracle Network. “It has been such a pleasure working with Dairy Queen Canada on this initiative for the last 10 years.”

About Children’s Miracle Network

Children’s Miracle Network® raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals, 14 of which are in Canada. These hospitals, in turn, use the money where it’s needed the most. When a donation is given, it stays in the community, ensuring that every dollar is helping local kids. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network has raised more than $4 billion, most of it $1 at a time. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase life-saving equipment, and ensure excellence in care, all in support of our mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
