SOUTHLAKE, Texas--()--Labor Day is a little more than a month away, and last-minute travelers can rest easy as Travelocity has compiled the best time to book cheap flights for the holiday based on five years of historical data.
“Consumers will find that the sooner they book, the more they will save on Labor Day travel”
Data compiled by Travelocity shows the most affordable window to book domestic airfare for Labor Day is five weeks out, July 27-29, at $339 on average. In contrast, travelers will spend the most, $416 on average, if they book the weekend before the holiday, August 31-September 2. Whether you’re booking travel early or last minute, Travelocity data shows booking a dynamic vacation package of a flight and hotel can save travelers up to $525.
“Consumers will find that the sooner they book, the more they will save on Labor Day travel,” said Courtney Scott, senior editor for Travelocity. “Based on five years of Travelocity data, the sweet spot for travelers to book is five weeks out from the holiday, but they will be happy to know that they can still find flights less than $400 one week out. Relying upon Travelocity’s Booking Barometer, booking a vacation package, and being flexible with your dates are the keys to the deepest Labor Day savings for those still planning to travel for the holiday.”
