Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation and Siemens PLM Software Announce New Long-Term Agreement

New Agreement Enables Russian Aircraft Industry to Extend the use of Teamcenter and NX software in Product Development

Farnborough International Airshow 2012

PLANO, Texas--()--Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, and JSC United Aircraft Corporation (JSC UAC) today announced a new long-term agreement that extends the co-operation between the Russian aircraft industry’s companies and Siemens PLM Software in the application of Siemens PLM Software’s Teamcenter® portfolio, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management system, and its NX™ software, a leading integrated solution for computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE). JSC UAC is also considering Siemens PLM Software’s Fibersim™ portfolio, specialized software for composites engineering, as a possible solution for the design and manufacturing of composite parts.

JSC UAC's 15 aircraft development programs requiring large-scale production collaboration are implemented using Siemens PLM Software's solutions. By expanding the existing agreement, the number of programs is expected to grow significantly in the coming years.

“Siemens PLM Software’s technology has been used by UAC enterprises for quite a long time and in recent years has become business-critical technology," said L.N. Komm, Vice President for Programs and Innovations of JSC UAC. “Realizing UAC’s strategic objective — the achievement of a key position in the aerospace market — depends on the efficiency of technology implementation. Our partnership with Siemens PLM Software is aimed at building a process of aircraft creation according to international best practices. What is also important for UAC is the control of total cost of software and its efficiency, which ultimately affects the cost of our aircraft.”

The new long-term agreement includes the establishment of a workgroup consisting of representatives from both JSC UAC and Siemens PLM Software that maintain responsibility for coordinating the projects assigned to Siemens PLM Software for JSC UAC and its affiliated companies. The group is tasked with collecting requirements for software functionality development and coordinating the implementation of these user-suggested features. It is also tasked with the development of a partner program by the end of 2012. This timeline is essential to ensure closer co-operation between Siemens PLM Software, JSC UAC, and the suppliers of purchased aviation equipment components.

"Siemens PLM Software is proud of the confidence JSC UAC has placed in our company and our solutions, and honored to be part of leading aircraft development programs throughout Russia. The results we’ve seen since we began working together have demonstrated how our solutions enable companies to improve efficiency and productivity across their enterprise," said Paul Vogel, Executive Vice President for Global Sales, Marketing and Services, Siemens PLM Software. "We look forward to participating in the JSC UAC workgroup because it allows us to have close interaction with the people who actually use our technology and consider their direct feedback in our product development endeavors.”
