Knowledge@Wharton Joins Social Strategy1 to launch the Global Social Media Leadership Awards Competition

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. & PHILADELPHIA--()--Knowledge@Wharton, the online research and analysis journal of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Social Strategy1, the preeminent social media monitoring and analytics firm, officially announce the inaugural Social Media Leadership Awards, presented with support from Ernst & Young.

The event will recognize champions in the use of social media by surfacing best practices in a variety of business uses. Companies large and small will compete across more than 10 categories that demonstrate innovative uses of social media.

"Social media affects every aspect of business, though its full power has yet to be realized,” said Steve Ennen, President and CIO of Social Strategy1. “This global competition spotlights the multiple uses and best practices of this phenomenon, and recognizes those who best understand its potential."

The competition will include yearlong coverage, best practices, white papers and insights from social media experts in multiple fields, and culminate with a two-day award luncheon and social media workshop at the Wharton School in November. The awards ceremony and workshop will take place on Wharton's Philadelphia, Pa., campus and will be broadcast online over social media channels.

A panel comprised of global business, social media, academic leaders will evaluate the entries. Champions will be chosen based on innovation and success in the use of social media to solve organizational challenges.

The winners will receive global exposure through Knowledge@Wharton and Social Strategy1 channels and partners including Social Strategy1’s OfficeArrow.com, a marketplace and community for small business.
