TU Me Launches on Android

The communications app from Telefónica Digital is now available to Android users worldwide

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--()--Telefónica Digital today announces that TU Me, the smartphone communications app, is now available to download for free through the Google Play store for Android users worldwide. Launched last month on iOS, TU Me allows free communication and sharing between smartphones via a simple, searchable timeline.

The launch of TU Me on Android makes it available to more than 300m Android users globally*. TU Me is available to download regardless of country or network operator and works via Wi-Fi or mobile data.

TU Me is designed to make it as easy as possible for people to communicate with their friends and family using their smartphone. Users of TU Me can exchange text messages, make calls, leave voice messages, share photos and location information. Interactions are stored in a timeline format, making it easy to view, scroll through and keep a history of conversations. Communications are stored in the cloud so if the user loses their device they can restore their timeline when they log back into the app on their new handset.

Following user feedback, TU Me was updated within the first week of launch to include support for Spanish and push notifications. It is being further updated to support horizontal typing and Portuguese**. The app will continue to evolve based on customer feedback.

TU Me is the first product from Telefónica to launch under the new TU brand and part of Telefónica Digital’s commitment to innovate in the core communications space. Over the coming months, it will also use the TU brand to launch a number of enhanced communications services which its O2, movistar and Vivo businesses will make available to customers as part of their bundles.
