Mobile Apps Exhibit and Showdown at CE Week NYC Picks App Most Likely to Succeed

Application Developers Alliance & Nokia Developer announce event sponsorship; online voting begins on June 15

CE Week 2012

NEW YORK--()--It’s not too late to enter the hottest tech competition in town! The Mobile Apps Showdown, curated by Living in Digital Times and CE Week, will showcase the best apps available for iOS, Android, Blackberry and the Windows Phone during CE Week NYC, June 25-29. The Application Developers Alliance and Nokia Developer have just joined up to sponsor the two-day event, which will commence with a special fan preview party fueled by gdgt (http://gdgt.com) on June 25.

Online ballots for the Mobile Apps Showdown go live on June 15, where the judges and audience can watch the competition in real time. Judges have already begun giving commentary on a number of fantastic apps.

A few apps firing up the competition include:

  • Life360 family locator app allows users to see where family members are located, when they need help in case of emergency, and what is on their minds using a private family group chat.
  • Pressman Toy’s iPieces, lets users turn any iPad into a board game for instant family fun. Simply purchase the iPieces for the game you’d like to play, download the corresponding app for free, and just add friends and family.
  • Solar Walk by Vito Technology is an excellent educational app about space and everything in it. With Earth as home base, wander the solar system and cruise the planets in exquisite detail, making discoveries along the way.

There’s still time for exhibitors to enter their mobile apps and be a part of CE Week festivities. Developers can enter their app at http://ceweek.mobileappsshowdown.com/ from now until CE Week begins on June 25. They can also choose to be displayed on the Wall of Apps where hundreds of visitors will experience their app.

All submitted and showcased apps will be posted on the site where visitors can watch app demos, try out the apps and voice their opinions. With the help of the Mobile Apps Showdown’s expert judges, apps will be selected as finalists and go on to compete at the live Showdown event at Metropolitan Pavilion with Showdown on June 27 at 4:30 p.m. where the audience casts the deciding vote on the best app.
