PerkinElmer to Create New Personalized Health Innovation Center of Excellence in Massachusetts

Global leader in life sciences solutions establishes new scientific center to develop innovative solutions in support of human health research

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--PerkinElmer, Inc., a global leader focused on improving the health and safety of people and the environment, today announced that it will establish a new Personalized Health Innovation Center of Excellence. The Center will focus on accelerating scientific innovation to help researchers who are working to eradicate disease and extend the quality and longevity of life.

The mission of the Center will be to create new enabling technologies for scientists developing and commercializing new diagnostic and therapeutic products. Located at the Company’s facility in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, the Center will expand to a total of 350 employees and is projected to be fully operational by late 2012.

The newly developed Center will bring together leaders from within PerkinElmer's chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology and reagent development R&D teams. PerkinElmer will leverage its scientific expertise with the goal of developing transformative in vitro to in vivo solutions, facilitating the development of personalized health solutions in the clinic. The facility will focus on the collaborative development of key enabling applications solutions in genomics, imaging, biomarkers, biotherapeutics, targeted small molecule development and cell-based assay solutions. It will also showcase a complete solutions-based demonstration laboratory for customers and collaborators.
