Leyden Energy’s High-Density, Heat-Resilient, Li-imide Batteries Teams With Tegra 3 4-PLUS-1 Quad-Core Processor for Faster, Thinner and Longer-Lasting Mobile Devices

Leyden Energy, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of advanced lithium-imide (Li-imide™) batteries, today announced that it is supplying high-density, heat-resilient, Li-imide batteries for NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 tablet reference design and development platforms.

The collaboration enables industry-first high dynamic range battery capabilities for quad-core tablets based on the NVIDIA® Tegra® 3 processor, the world’s only 4-PLUS-1™ quad-core processor with a fifth battery saver core.

The companies worked together to team Leyden Energy’s cutting-edge lithium-ion batteries with Tegra 3—based on the batteries’ higher energy density, longer cycle and calendar life rating and higher temperature resilience—ensuring better maintenance of battery capacity over time. These capabilities stem directly from Leyden Energy’s patented, thermally-superior Li-imide chemistry platform.

“We believe the opportunity to supply batteries for NVIDIA’s tablet reference design and development platforms are further confirmation of the competitive advantages of Leyden Energy’s Li-imide chemistry platform, including our ability to deliver on the high-density, heat-resilient, increased durability and long calendar life requirements for next-generation mobile devices such as tablets, smartphones and ultrathin laptops,” said Leyden Energy Chief Strategy Officer Aakar Patel. “Leyden Energy looks forward to a long partnership with NVIDIA that will help advance the future of mobile battery technology, help OEMs and system builders meet increasing consumer demand for advanced features, and bring to market a new generation of powerful yet power-efficient tablets, faster.”

“Delivering desktop-class performance in a tablet that lasts all day requires exceptional energy performance,” said Bill Henry, director of Tegra Platform Management at NVIDIA. “Teaming Tegra 3 with Leyden Energy’s innovative Li-imide batteries helps our partners create thinner quad-core tablets with great battery life and unmatched performance.”

Leyden Energy’s battery products are perfectly suited for consumer electronics applications due to their higher energy density, reduced swelling, higher levels of safety and excellent thermal properties. These attributes also make Leyden Energy’s batteries well suited for use in electric vehicles and the harsh conditions associated with grid and backup storage applications. Based on these advance chemistry properties, Leyden Energy was recently named a “Cool Vendor” in consumer energy management by industry-leading research firm, Gartner, Inc.
