Miami Jewish Health Systems Chosen to Conduct Alzheimer’s Study

Alzheimer’s Study to Determine if Early Intervention Makes A Difference

Research Subjects Needed for Alzheimer’s Study That May Discover Preventive Treatment

MIAMI--()--The Memory Center at Miami Jewish Health Systems (MJHS) was recently chosen as one of 37 sites in the United States to conduct a groundbreaking clinical trial in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The research study aims to discover the safety and effectiveness of the drug Crenezumab in individuals who have mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease in the hopes of stopping or slowing the development of the disease. Crenezumab has also been selected as part of a major federally funded trial to attempt the prevention of AD in high-risk populations.

“Miami Jewish Health Systems’ Memory Center has been a leader in conducting Alzheimer’s studies for the last 10 years,” said Medical Director for Mental Health and Clinical Research at MJHS and national expert in the field of Alzheimer’s, Marc Agronin, M.D. “We are excited to be one of the few leaders in the United States and Florida conducting this state-of-the-art trial in Alzheimer’s, which we believe might represent great advancement in the treatment of this disease,” he said.

In partnership with Genentech, the study is free and open to qualifying individuals. Individuals interested in participating in the study should contact Dr. Agronin at the Memory Center at MJHS at 305-514-8503.
