GALWAY, Ireland--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aerogen has been honored at the 15th Annual Allergy and Asthma day in Capitol Hill, Washington with an Innovation Technology Award which recognizes life-saving breakthroughs in allergy and asthma care. The award was presented to Aerogen by Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics (AANMA), a leading national non-profit patient education organization, in recognition the Aeroneb Go home care nebulizer.
The Aeroneb Go is a fast, simple-to-use device developed specifically for the millions of patients worldwide who require respiratory therapy in and away from the home. It’s a lightweight, portable nebulizer which has found a following among asthmatics and other respiratory disease patients.
AANMA Founder and President Nancy Sander said “Our organization’s sole mission is to eliminate needless suffering and death due to allergies, asthma and related conditions.” The award highlights technology which helps address this goal. Other winners on the night included Genentech, GlaxoSmithKline, Boehringer Ingelheim and Teva.
The Aeroneb Go was selected as the best nebulizer from hundreds of aerosol therapy devices available to asthmatics. The unique technology allows drugs to be nebulized into a fine particle mist that can be absorbed through the lungs while maintaining drug integrity. The silent operation of the vibrating mesh core is particularly beneficial to the homecare market as customers can nebulize without the nuisance noise associated with traditional nebulizers.
John Power, CEO Aerogen stated “Our customers are always front and center of our minds when developing technology. To have the Aeroneb Go recognized by the Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics means that it is making a difference to the lives of our customers, and that is always our ultimate goal.”
The Aeroneb Go is sold in the US and to over 60 countries worldwide through a distributor network. Aerogen’s product portfolio includes hospital use nebulizers as well as homecare nebulizers. Aerogen technology was used by over 235,000 patients last year. For more information contact www.Aerogen.com
