Clifford Chance adds partner Gary Boss to its US Insurance Practice

NEW YORK--()--Leading international law firm Clifford Chance today announced that Gary Boss has joined the firm in New York as a mergers and acquisitions partner specializing in insurance industry transactions.

Mr. Boss has extensive experience advising on all types of domestic and cross-border M&A, with a primary focus representing insurers and private equity companies. During the last three years, he led more than 20 transactions in the insurance and reinsurance sector. Mr. Boss has advised a roster of insurance clients that includes AEGON, AETNA, FNF, Hanover Re, Liberty Mutual, MetLife, Munich Re, RenaissanceRe, SCOR, Sun Life and Transamerica, and private equity and hedge fund clients that include Bain, Blackstone, Cerberus, Corinthian, HBK, Soros, Thomas H. Lee and TPG.

Mr. Boss has nearly a decade of experience leading many of the more innovative and complex reinsurance and insurance M&A transactions completed in the sector. His M&A experience encompasses nearly all types of insurance risk transfer, ranging from traditional public company and private company M&A transactions, to transactions involving the sale of closed and open blocks of insurance through indemnity reinsurance transactions, to highly structured synthetic risk transfer arrangements. Mr. Boss regularly advises clients on legal, regulatory and other issues related to the formation and operation of life, annuity and property and casualty insurers and reinsurers. He also has substantial capital markets expertise, having worked on public company spinoffs, primary and secondary equity offerings, IPOs, tender offers, private placements, 144A offerings and various life insurance securitization structures. In addition, Mr. Boss has worked in insurance sector startups and insurance rehabilitation matters. In terms of products, his experience encompasses nearly all types of products and lines, including life, property and casualty, financial guarantee, mortgage insurance, surety, annuity and surplus lines, as well as business written through Lloyd's syndicates.

Mr. Boss received his J.D. in 1996 from Yale Law School, where he was a John M. Olin Fellow. He earned his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1993, and his B.A. in Economics in 1989 from Brigham Young University, where he was a Kimball Scholar.
