Introducing Healogics, the Wound Healing Expert

A New Resource to Help Heal More Wounds and Change More Lives

ATLANTA--()--Today the medical community welcomes a new organization united with a vision to drive the field of wound science, healing, and prevention forward. Two companies long known for clinical excellence and leadership in wound care — National Healing Corporation and Diversified Clinical Services, Inc.— have joined forces as Healogics. The new organization’s name, strategy, and vision were shared at the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care and Wound Healing Society (SAWC Spring/WHS) meeting.

“It is with great excitement that I introduce a new entity in the pursuit of wound healing,” announced Jeffrey W. Nelson, chief executive officer. “Working together, the Healogics network is committed to advancing wound healing by creating, sharing, and activating wound prevention and care expertise —everywhere we can, for every patient who would benefit, by the best means available. Simply put, this means healing more wounds that otherwise wouldn’t heal, thereby preventing amputation for thousands of patients. We invite you and partners from every corner of healthcare to join us on this mission.”

Helping bring hope and healing to patients on a daily basis, each of the more than 500 Healogics centers is staffed with highly trained physicians and clinicians who treat chronic wounds through a multi-disciplinary approach and advanced treatments. In 2011 alone, the Healogics network cared for more than one million wounds that had failed to heal using conventional methods, achieving a healing rate of 89 percent for these wounds.

The demand for specialized wound care services is rapidly growing, and Healogics is prepared to lead the field. "The state of chronic wounds in this country is unacceptable. Working together with physicians and hospital partners in our communities, we can and will heal more wounds," said Robert Warriner, M.D., chief medical officer for Healogics. Warriner went on to say, "The rise in obesity and the growth of the aging population results in a higher number of chronic wounds. It is imperative that we educate medical professionals, patients, and families about the advanced treatments available to promote healing."

Added Dr. Chandan K. Sen, Director, of the Comprehensive Wound Center at The Ohio State University, “The current patient population is underserved by existing wound care programs. It is estimated that there are more than eight million Americans who would benefit from specialized wound care services. That’s more than eight million lives we could be improving. Our flagship partnership with Healogics is aimed at improving the lives of these patients and their families through innovative scientific research and leading-edge clinical pathways.”

Inspired by the communities they serve; the teams at Healogics are investing in clinical care and research, program development, and education and training, to continually improve patient outcomes. “We’re seeking the most effective solutions for reducing costs associated with chronic wounds,” explained Nelson. “That’s why we’re building a high-tech training center at our headquarters in Jacksonville. It will serve as a global hub for wound healing education where hundreds of doctors, nurses, and other medical technicians will be trained monthly, thereby strengthening our collective ability to advance the field of wound care,” he added.
