Jack White Announced as First Artist to Perform as Part of the “American Express® Unstaged” Series in 2012, Directed by Oscar® Nominated Actor Gary Oldman

Live VEVO event on YouTube will be streamed from New York City on April 27th, coinciding with highly anticipated release of White’s debut album

NEW YORK--()--American Express, in partnership with VEVO and YouTube, announced today that Grammy® award-winning artist Jack White, and Oscar® nominated actor and director Gary Oldman, have been selected to kick-off the third year in its popular livestream music series, “American Express Unstaged.” White’s performance, from iconic Webster Hall on Friday, April 27 at 9:00 PM ET / 6:00PM PT in New York City, will be directed by Oldman and livestreamed at www.youtube.com/JackWhiteVEVO and on mobile devices via VEVO and YouTube apps for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Android. The global event will come just three days after Jack White’s debut album, BLUNDERBUSS (Third Man Records/Columbia), hits stores on April 24.

American Express, in conjunction with VEVO and YouTube, has tracked more than 70 million total views for its award-winning livestream music series since 2010. This will be the eighth installment within the “American Express Unstaged” music series, which brings some of the world’s biggest music acts closer to fans through the distinctive lens of celebrated filmmakers. The program has featured such recognized musicians as Arcade Fire, John Legend & The Roots, Sugarland, Duran Duran, My Morning Jacket, Coldplay and Mary J. Blige.

Born the youngest of ten children, raised in Southwest Detroit and a resident of Nashville since 2005, nine-time Grammy winner Jack White has been regarded as one of the world's most prolific and renowned artists since the 1997 inception of the White Stripes.
