LONDON & BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--TestPlant, developer of the eggPlant software testing tool, has introduced a major new capability to help software quality professionals to automate more of the testing process. At the same time, it has announced a new integration strategy that will help to establish eggPlant as the image-based test tool of choice for a wide variety of test frameworks.
eggPlant creates a visual depiction of GUIs and screens, enabling software testers to automate the testing of screens through a ‘search and compare’ technique. The technique is entirely non-invasive which is a unique and invaluable feature in industries such as defense, security, media and medical devices.
New feature extends eggPlant’s test automation capabilities
Until now, eggPlant’s test automation scripts had to be written in SenseTalk, its own, easy-to-use scripting language. The new capacity, eggPlant Drive, will process external scripts and process commands, enabling QA professionals and testers to automate tests based on other script-based languages including JAVA, Perl, and Visual Basic.

New integration strategy to increase adoption
TestPlant has also embarked on a new integration strategy to broaden the availability of eggPlant and to drive its adoption as the tool-of-choice for any test framework, including those for open source and proprietary applications.
The first integration is with Jenkins, an open source continuous integration tool designed to improve quality control on software development projects. eggPlant is now available as a plug in for Jenkins, and can be downloaded from https://wiki.jenkins-ci.org/display/JENKINS/eggPlant-plugin.
