DALLAS & FORT WORTH, Texas--()--Mouser Electronics, Inc., regarded as one of the industry’s top design engineering resources and global distributors for semiconductors and electronic components, today announced that it will be visited by the amazing Murata Boy, the world renowned self-balancing robot that is packed with electronics to allow it to have extraordinary balancing capabilities, on Thursday, April 5th. Mouser is Murata’s distribution partner for the manufacturer’s newest products and advanced ceramic technologies.

Murata will be giving 40-minute demonstrations of the robot’s capabilities throughout the morning to Mouser employees, as well as local students from Mansfield’s Ben Barber Tech Academy who participate in the FIRST® FTC robotics program, of which Mouser is a sponsor. The students and employees will get the chance to learn about Murata’s various products and technologies, while getting an inside look at the robot. Murata Boy not only balances his fully functional bicycle, he can pedal it forward and backward, make turns and ride up small inclines. The balancing act comes courtesy of an in-seat gyroscope, which communicates with a large fly wheel in Murata Boy’s chest that keeps him perfectly balanced whether he’s moving or not. As a result, Murata Boy not only balances when in motion, he can do just as well when the bike is perfectly still.

“We are excited to be able to bring Murata Boy to Mansfield for our employees to see up close. It represents the most cutting-edge design technology available and demonstrates how far these principals can take us,” says Andy Kerr, Mouser Vice President of Passives. “Murata is a strong Mouser partner, and we look forward to collaborating on many future projects with them.”

The multi-media presentation will consist of several videos on how the robot was made, along with a full demonstration of its unique capabilities.
