HealthTrust members in acute care facilities and ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices and alternate care sites gain access to Nihon Kohden’s enterprise monitoring solutions

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif.--()--Nihon Kohden America, a market leader in patient monitoring innovation, has been awarded a physiological monitoring contract from HealthTrust Purchasing Group, L.P., (HealthTrust), which commenced on Feb, 1, 2012. This marks another contract for Nihon Kohden among healthcare group purchasing organizations (GPOs) and represents a broad expansion of its partnership with HealthTrust, which supports nearly 1,400 not-for-profit and for-profit acute care facilities, as well as 10,600 ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices and alternate care sites in the United States.

“This award is the culmination of a rigorous proposal process,” said Mike Dashefsky, vice president, Nihon Kohden America. “We appreciate HealthTrust for confirming Nihon Kohden’s leadership in patient monitoring innovation, which will allow us to compete in extensive monitoring opportunities with its members. With our enterprise monitoring solutions, including the Prefense™ Early Detection and Notification System™, Nihon Kohden supports HealthTrust’s commitment to obtaining the best value for clinically recommended products, ensuring their timely delivery, and continuously evaluating and improving services to the patients, physicians and clinicians they serve.”

With an annual purchasing volume by its members of more than $20 billion, HealthTrust is the industry’s most contract-compliant GPO.

Nihon Kohden’s enterprise monitoring solutions will enable HealthTrust’s members to lower operating costs while infusing processes with enhanced compliance and patient care. Its Defensive Monitoring™ solution with the Prefense Early Detection & Notification System closes the gap between the time when the patient’s condition starts to deteriorate and a clinician is alerted, enabling quicker interventions at the point of care.
