Chicago Chapter of National African American Insurance Assn. Offers $1,000 Scholarships to College-Bound H.S. Seniors

Deadline extended to April 19!

CHICAGO--()--For the fourth consecutive year, the Chicago chapter of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) will provide $1,000 each to 10 college-bound high school seniors. Applications and scholarship guidelines are currently available on the NAAIA Chicago website at www.naaiachicago.org. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the organization’s 6th Annual Spring Benefit & Scholarship Luncheon in May.

Since 2008, NAAIA Chicago has granted $40,000 in scholarships thanks, in part, to its partnership with State Farm. Serving as presenting sponsors, State Farm has provided monetary support and assistance in reviewing application packets received from hundreds of students across the Chicagoland area.

“In this challenging economic environment, we are proud to provide assistance to students who can use a little extra money toward college,” said Margaret Redd, president, NAAIA Chicago. “Reading through these students’ stories of pushing past adversity and staying focused on success inspires our members and strengthens our commitment to doing all that we can to assist.”

NAAIA Chicago has extended its deadline for applications for its 2012 scholarships to April 19, when all submissions must be postmarked. Applicants will be judged on GPA, ACT score, community involvement and a compelling essay that demonstrates financial need. NAAIA is dedicated to empowering African-American insurance professionals currently in the industry as well as increasing this number nationwide. NAAIA engages in the sharing of information for personal growth and professional development while providing opportunities for networking, continuing education and building mutually beneficial partnerships.
