Mitigation Solutions USA Now Has Wetland Credits for Sale in Alaska

HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mitigation Solutions USA (MSUSA) is the exclusive broker of wetland credits for Pioneer Mitigation Bank, one of the first wetland mitigation banks in the 49^th state. Credits are available for sale now.

Pioneer is a Wasilla, Alaska, family-owned mitigation bank. The United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)-Alaska District approved its mitigation banking instrument and released credits in fall 2011. Pioneer's service area, with the Seldon and Edgerton bank parcels, includes watershed basins within the Mat-Su Valley Region of the Lower Susitna River Watershed.

Purchasing credits from a mitigation bank is the USACE's preferred form of offsetting impacts to wetlands and streams. "And since Alaska has few mitigation banks for transportation, oil and gas, and infrastructure developers to purchase credits from, the USACE will allow mitigation of impacts to wetlands beyond Pioneer's service area on a case-by-case basis," explains MSUSA President Terry McKenzie.

In fact, mitigation of impacts throughout the entire Matanuska-Susitna Borough is possible with Pioneer Mitigation Bank.
