Tenex Health Appoints Former Mayo Clinic Chair and Orthopedic Academy President Bernard Morrey, M.D. as Chief Medical Officer

LAKE FOREST, Calif.--()--Tenex Health Inc. (www.tenexhealth.com) announced today the appointment of Bernard Morrey, M.D. to the newly created position of Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Morrey will lead the clinical development and implementation of the company’s novel FAST™ procedure for orthopedic and sports medicine applications. The FAST™ procedure (www.fastprocedure.com) is an out-patient percutaneous tenotomy conducted under local anesthesia and has been used to treat almost 500 patients since its commercial launch in Q4 2011.

Dr. Morrey is the Emeritus Chairman and Professor of Orthopedics at Mayo Clinic and the Professor of Orthopedics at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio. He is also the past President of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Orthopedic Association, American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and has served as chairman of the board of trustees of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery and Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery.

“What attracted me to this technology is the ability to help develop a safe, minimally invasive and cost-effective solution for a very common condition, tendonopathy, which currently does not have a very reliable solution,” said Dr. Morrey. “Because of these features, the FAST™ procedure holds the promise to provide physicians the ability to effectively and safely intervene early in the patients’ disease process so that they don’t have to suffer for months on end and in doing so the therapy has the potential to be a game-breaker.”

Additionally, Tenex Health has also appointed world-renowned surgeons Dr. James Andrews of the Andrews Institute, Dr. Neal Elattrache of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, Dr. Richard Steadman of the Steadman Clinic and Dr. Mihir Patel of OrthoIndy to join Dr. Morrey on the company’s medical advisory board.

“We are excited and honored to have Dr. Morrey join our team. His accomplishments in orthopedics are without compare and his clinical acumen will play a critical role as we launch our ground-breaking therapy in the US and overseas,” stated Jagi Gill, President and CEO of Tenex Health. “Dr. Morrey’s leadership complements a best-in-class assembly of our medical advisory board composed of the premiere sports medicine and orthopedic surgeons in the world.”

About Tenex Health Inc.

Tenex Health, Inc. (www.tenexhealth.com) develops and markets innovative therapies for the treatment of tendon pain due to trauma or repetitive motion injuries. The minimally invasive procedure, known as FAST™ (Focused Aspiration of Scar Tissue), utilizes the company’s proprietary TX1™ Tissue Removal System to debride and aspirate diseased soft tissue and bone spurs in an outpatient setting using local anesthetic (www.fastprocedure.com). Since the surrounding healthy tendon tissue is not disturbed, patients enjoy less discomfort and faster recovery times versus traditional open surgical procedures. The entire procedure is completed under local anesthesia in an out-patient setting and usually within 15 minutes.
