SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Doctor’s Best, Inc., a leading manufacturer and distributor of clinically-formulated dietary supplements, announced that dietary supplement industry researcher, product developer and educator Parris M. Kidd, PhD. has been appointed as the company’s Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Kidd’s responsibilities will include product development and validation, product education, and overall responsibility for product science at Doctor’s Best.

Dr. Kidd earned his PhD in cell and developmental biology at the University of California, Berkeley. In 1983, after a career in academic teaching and research in the University of California system, he transitioned into integrative medicine. By 1985 he had completed the definitive textbook Antioxidant Adaptation—Its Role in Free Radical Pathology, co-authored with Dr. Stephen Levine. Since then Dr. Kidd has become a prominent scientist in the field of dietary supplement development.

In 1987 Dr. Kidd co-founded a consulting practice with antioxidant expert Dr. Wolfgang Huber. They co-authored Living with the AIDS Virus—A Strategy for Long-Term Survival, a pioneering book that Dr. Kidd used to educate about HIV/AIDS management in North America, Africa and Europe.

In 1994 Dr. Kidd helped introduce the brain nutrients PS (PhosphatidylSerine) and GPC (GlyceroPhosphoCholine), into North America. His books PS, Nature’s Brain Booster, A Vital Lipid Nutrient for Memory, Mood and Stress, and GPC, Mind-Body Power For Active Living and Healthy Aging, were very well received. Since 1996 he has been a Contributing Editor to the peer-reviewed journal Alternative Medicine Review, and science advisor to Total Health magazine, now The Wellness Imperative online.
