Fly.com Study Unveils Top 5 Bargain Summer Flight Destinations

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fly.com™, the world’s easiest-to-use flight comparison website, today unveiled the five best and worst destinations for flight bargains this summer. The best flight prices this summer are for Miami, USA, and the worst are for Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt.

1. Miami, USA: 23% price drop since last year, with potential savings of up to £350 if booked now, based on last year’s trend.	1 Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt: 21% year-on-year increase.
2. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: 17% drop from last year, with potential savings of up to £500 if booked now, based on last year’s trend.	2 Kos, Greece: slightly better affordability, yet 47% year-on-year price increase.
3. Dubrovnik, Croatia: 41% year-on-year drop in flight prices due to increased competition on the route, especially from low-cost carriers.	3 Dalaman, Turkey: 25% year-on-year price increase.
4. Florence, Italy: 47% drop in year-on-year flight prices, plus benefits from a weaker euro which brings down overall costs.	4 Murcia, Spain: 30% year-on-year price increase and high cost relative to other destinations in Spain.
5. San Diego, USA: 13% year-on-year drop on flight prices.	5 Las Palmas, Spain: 9% year-on-year price increase and high cost relative to other destinations in Spain.

Fly.com's study also revealed that booking early can mean huge savings for some destinations. Rio de Janeiro flights could go up by as much as £500 per person in the run-up to summer. Similarly, flights to Miami are currently averaging £450 per person. However, based on flight prices observed last year, they could hit £600-£700 in June or July.

Fly.com compiled its list of the best and worst destinations to fly to from the UK by comparing the results of flight searches throughout January 2012 to those of January 2011. Over a million searches were used in the study, and Fly.com compared the most popular summer destinations searched over this period.
